So Zoe decided, out of the blue, on Friday that she wanted to get her ears pierced. Annelise didn't really care to do so, but when it came time for us to leave for the mall, Annelise wanted to come along. I told her that we were going only for those who wanted to get their ears pierced. She said she wanted it too, so I said ok and took both the girls. Earlier, I was thinking about the situation, and said to myself that it would probably be easier to take the girls on separate occasions so they couldn't feed off of each other's reaction to the pain, but for some reason, I totally spaced it when Annelise asked and decided to take the two kiddos.
Big mistake! :(
When we got to the mall, the girls were super excited to get their ears pierced, not having any clue of the 30 seconds of pain they were about to endure. We walked in to Claire's and started to look at earrings. At this point, they were going crazy picking out all these "cute" earrings for themselves. When the store assistant manager was ready for us, I had to decided which girl would go first. I picked Annelise thinking that she'd probably have less of a reaction. So, I distracted Zoe by telling her to walk around the store and find things she likes.
Here's Annelise before...
And then here she is after...
So, at first she was just shocked and sat for a few seconds, speechless. And then it hit her... Of course after a few short minutes, she was back to her normal self. Well, needless to say, Zoe had a change of heart after seeing her sister's reaction. At that point I was not going to let her get out of it so quickly. After all, it was HER idea and we drove to the mall for the sole purpose of having this done. So, it took a good 15 minutes of her crying and flinching and trying to dodge the poor gal who was doing the piercings and she finally gave in...
Now, it's all about showing off their earrings to everyone and anyone who will listen. If you ask them now, they love their earrings/ears pierced.
** Funny side story... Our friend has a little daughter who's been wanting to get her ears pierced as well. So, we met up with them and they saw my girls' earrings. Then, Zoe proceeds to say, "Don't do it, it really hurts. Don't do it"...She was trying to talk her friend down from wanting to get her ears pierced. I was cracking up when I heard this. Kids are so funny sometimes.
